Mount-It!: Magento to Shopify Replatforming with ERP & PIM Integration

Shopify replatforming, storefront redesign, ERP and PIM integration, and performance modernization for a US mounting and workspace solutions brand with a 1,000+ product catalog

Mount-It!: Magento to Shopify Replatforming with ERP & PIM Integration

Project Summary

Mount-It! partnered with Elogic Commerce, a Shopify replatforming agency, to move its ecommerce storefront from Magento 2 to Shopify while redesigning the customer experience, preserving ERP and PIM integrations, and improving performance.

The engagement followed an earlier Elogic project that built Mount-It!’s Magento 2 foundation, including data migration, AWS infrastructure, custom product-finder functionality, advanced search, and third-party integrations. This next phase was not a simple platform swap. Mount-It! needed to move to Shopify without losing the business capabilities and data flows behind its ecommerce operation, while using the migration to improve the storefront itself.

With a catalog of 1,000+ products spanning mounting solutions, monitor arms, workspace equipment, carts, and stands, product discovery was central to the experience, since customers often need to evaluate dimensions, compatibility, and use case before buying.

Elogic combined the Shopify replatforming with a storefront redesign and frontend rebuild, creating a faster customer experience while maintaining continuity with Mount-It!’s ERP and PIM ecosystem.

About the Client

Founded in 2006 in San Diego, Mount-It! designs and sells mounting and workspace solutions, including TV mounts, monitor desk mounts, office equipment, stands, and carts, serving both individual consumers and business customers across commercial, government, and healthcare environments.

Many products are specification-driven, so customers often need to confirm compatibility, dimensions, or weight capacity before purchasing, which makes product discovery as important as the transaction itself. Elogic had previously built Mount-It!’s Magento 2 platform, including the custom Mount Finder and advanced search. The next stage moved the storefront to Shopify while using the migration to redesign and modernize it.

Project Complexity

A 1,000+ product catalog with technical buying requirements

The new storefront had to preserve the depth of product information while making it easier for customers to navigate and understand.

Replatforming an established Magento operation

This was a migration of an established store, not a greenfield build. Elogic had to determine which capabilities to migrate, which to replace with native Shopify functionality, and which to redesign.

ERP and PIM integration continuity

Shopify was only one part of Mount-It!’s commerce ecosystem. The migration had to preserve the existing data relationships between the storefront and the ERP/PIM systems that managed business and product information.

Migration and redesign in one transformation

Rather than a like-for-like move, Mount-It! used the project to rethink navigation, product presentation, and conversion paths while the frontend was rebuilt on Shopify.

Performance modernization

The rebuild addressed frontend architecture directly rather than deferring performance to a later optimization pass. The resulting storefront delivered a 41% reduction in JavaScript payload, while page loads were 3.5x faster than on the previous Magento experience.

Business Challenge

Mount-It! needed to modernize its platform while maintaining continuity across a large catalog and the systems supporting the business. The existing Magento implementation worked, but the business wanted a more streamlined platform and modern customer experience without breaking the PIM and ERP connections those operations depended on.

At the customer-experience level, shoppers often know the type of solution they need but still require help narrowing a technical catalog to the right product. The new experience needed to improve that path while making the storefront faster on mobile.

The transformation centered on four objectives: replatform Magento to Shopify without losing data or functionality; preserve ERP and PIM continuity; redesign the storefront rather than reproduce the Magento UX; and improve performance and product discovery across desktop and mobile.

Elogic Commerce's Solution

Magento-to-Shopify Replatforming

Elogic Commerce evaluated the existing Magento implementation and mapped functionality to the Shopify architecture rather than reproducing it indiscriminately, using native Shopify capabilities where appropriate and custom development where Mount-It!’s requirements demanded it.

ERP Integration

Elogic Commerce preserved the connection between Shopify and Mount-It!’s ERP, maintaining the flow of operational data between the storefront and back office so Shopify could serve as the commerce layer while the ERP continued supporting business processes.

PIM Integration

The storefront remained connected to the PIM, keeping centralized product information and attributes flowing into the customer experience rather than treating Shopify as a separate data island.

Storefront Redesign

Elogic Commerce reworked the information hierarchy and navigation, with particular attention to how shoppers evaluate technically complex products, covering category structure, product presentation, discovery paths, and mobile interactions.

Product Discovery Optimization

Elogic Commerce improved the path from category browsing to product evaluation, building on the Mount Finder and advanced search capabilities from the earlier Magento engagement.

Mobile UX Redesign

Elogic Commerce reworked the mobile experience as a dedicated shopping journey rather than simply adapting the desktop layout, with redesigned navigation and product presentation for smaller screens.

Frontend Performance Optimization

Elogic Commerce reduced unnecessary frontend overhead and implemented a leaner Shopify architecture as part of the rebuild itself.

Ecommerce Data Migration

Elogic Commerce migrated the required data from Magento to Shopify, mapping the existing data model while maintaining the storefront’s relationships with ERP and PIM. The migration was completed with zero critical data-loss incidents.

Results & Business Impact

Page Load Speed

Page loads were 3.5x faster compared with the previous Magento experience, alongside a 41% reduction in frontend JavaScript payload.

Conversion

Overall conversion rate increased by 19% following the replatforming and UX redesign. Mobile conversion increased by 32% following the mobile UX redesign.

Product Discovery

Time from category entry to product-page interaction dropped 40%, helping customers move more quickly from category browsing to product evaluation.

Migration Continuity

ERP and PIM integrations remained operational through the platform change, with zero critical data-loss incidents during migration.

Commerce Architecture

Shopify became the customer-facing commerce platform while the ERP and PIM continued supporting operational and product-data processes, allowing Mount-It! to modernize the storefront without replacing those underlying systems.

Capabilities Demonstrated

01

Magento-to-Shopify replatforming for established, data-heavy operations

02

ERP and PIM integration through a platform migration

03

Ecommerce UX/UI redesign as part of replatforming, not a like-for-like port

04

Product discovery optimization for technically complex product catalogs

05

Mobile UX optimization for product discovery and conversion

06

Frontend performance engineering (payload reduction, page-load optimization)

07

Controlled ecommerce data migration and validation

08

Long-term ecommerce engineering partnership across platform generations

Best Fit For

Established ecommerce businesses moving from Magento to Shopify with more complex requirements than a standard migration

Magento storefronts with significant accumulated customization

Catalogs of hundreds or thousands of technically detailed products

Businesses whose ERP and PIM systems need to remain part of the architecture through a platform change

Storefronts needing UX modernization alongside migration, not a lift-and-shift

Magento stores where the migration is also an opportunity to reassess legacy customizations, integrations, and customer-facing functionality

When This Solution Is a Good Fit

A Magento-to-Shopify replatforming can be structured as a broader modernization program. This involves evaluating the existing architecture, retaining what works, replacing unnecessary custom functionality with native Shopify capabilities, and redesigning the experience around current business requirements.

This approach is most relevant to established Magento stores with meaningful customization, complex product catalogs, ERP or PIM dependencies, and a need to improve the customer experience alongside the platform itself.

For smaller, lightly customized Magento stores with minimal ERP or PIM dependency, the migration scope may be substantially simpler and may not require the same level of architectural discovery, redesign, and integration work.
