Adobe Commerce Performance Engineering & CRO Optimization for Borla Performance Industries
Adobe Commerce performance engineering, CRO audit, checkout optimization, and investment prioritization for an automotive performance parts manufacturer.
Project Summary
Borla Performance Industries, a manufacturer of automotive performance exhaust systems, had a Magento storefront carrying years of accumulated technical and conversion debt, creating uncertainty about where further investment would produce the greatest commercial return. Elogic Commerce conducted a structured Adobe Commerce performance and CRO assessment, analyzed checkout friction, implemented backend performance and checkout improvements, and translated the findings into a prioritized optimization roadmap covering backend performance, storefront assets, caching, and the purchase flow.
Key Outcomes
35–50%
reduction in JavaScript requests, from a storefront footprint exceeding 271 requests per page, through bundling, consolidation, and lazy-loading of non-critical scripts
20–35%
improvement in page load time following implementation of prioritized performance optimizations
5–15%
reduction in checkout abandonment following checkout-flow improvements
25–35%
reduction in image payload size through WebP conversion and image compression
About the Client
Borla Performance Industries designs and manufactures aftermarket automotive exhaust and performance systems, sold through a Magento-based ecommerce storefront. As with many long-running Magento stores, years of theme customization, third-party scripts, and unoptimized assets had accumulated, producing performance and conversion debt across the storefront.
Optimization Scope
271+
JavaScript requests per page before optimization

The Business Challenge
Borla’s challenge was not simply to make the storefront faster. It was to determine which technical and customer-experience issues were materially affecting commerce performance, prioritize remediation by business impact, and create an executable investment path.
Underlying that challenge, the storefront was loading more than 271 separate JavaScript requests per page, alongside unoptimized images, CSS, and checkout friction, collectively creating a slower customer journey with no clear prioritization model for what to fix first.
Performance & Commerce Optimization Framework
Elogic Commerce evaluated Borla's commerce environment across five dimensions:
server response, JavaScript execution, asset weight, and caching
Magento modules, dependencies, and accumulated customization
storefront friction and checkout usability
purchase-flow barriers and CRO opportunities
effort, dependencies, sequencing, and expected business impact
Elogic Commerce's Engineering & Optimization Approach
What Elogic Commerce Analyzed
- Backend performance and JavaScript dependency/request footprint
- CSS and image payload
- Varnish cache configuration
- Magento modules and system architecture
- Checkout journey and CRO opportunities
What Elogic Commerce Delivered
- A documented performance baseline via New Relic
- CRO audit findings across the storefront and purchase flow
- A Comprehensive Audit Report (executive summary, detailed findings, current-state assessment, performance baseline)
- An Optimization Strategy & Recommendations document, prioritized by diagnostic data
- A detailed Implementation Roadmap (work breakdown structure, sub-project estimates, timeline, dependencies, risk-ordered priorities)
What Elogic Commerce Implemented
- JavaScript bundling and consolidation
- Lazy-loading of non-critical scripts
- WebP conversion and image compression
- CSS cleanup and optimization
- Varnish cache configuration improvements
- Checkout-flow improvements based on CRO findings
AI-Assisted Engineering
Elogic Commerce incorporated AI-assisted development and QA practices into the engineering workflow to accelerate code analysis, test creation, refactoring, and debugging, while architecture decisions, code review, testing, and production deployment remained under engineer ownership.
Planning an Adobe Commerce Performance and Conversion Assessment?
If your Adobe Commerce storefront has accumulated performance or conversion debt, Elogic Commerce can assess the current environment, identify the highest-impact engineering and CRO opportunities, and translate them into a prioritized investment roadmap, before you commit to a larger optimization or replatforming program.
