About the Client

Zeus Group is a European packaging manufacturer and distributor producing rigid containers, flexible films, and custom-printed packaging solutions for food, beverage, cosmetics, and industrial sectors. The company operates manufacturing facilities and distribution centres across multiple countries. It serves a network of 1,400+ active B2B accounts, including national distributors, regional converters, contract packagers, and large end-customer brands across 17 European markets.

Before the project, Zeus had:

  • a single WooCommerce storefront used primarily for catalog browsing
  • mostly manual order capture through email, phone, and PDF order forms
  • all pricing, inventory, and customer data are siloed inside SAP Business One
  • no unified multi-country digital commerce architecture
  • limited distributor self-service capability

Leadership prioritized digital self-service as a strategic lever to reduce sales operations overhead, accelerate distributor onboarding, and capture margin on long-tail SKU orders previously uneconomical to process manually.

Project Complexity

This engagement required solving multiple enterprise-level challenges simultaneously:

WooCommerce to Shopify Plus B2B Migration

The engagement required migrating from WooCommerce to a full Shopify Plus B2B ecosystem while preserving critical commerce data, customer records, product information, and order history without data loss.

Scalable Architecture for 12,000+ SKUs

Elogic designed a scalable Shopify Plus architecture capable of supporting a complex industrial catalog with more than 12,000 SKUs, structured product data, and future catalog growth.

SAP Business One ERP Integration

The project required enabling ERP-driven commerce workflows through SAP Business One, connecting core business operations such as product data, inventory, pricing, customers, and orders with the ecommerce platform.

Advanced B2B Purchasing Logic

The platform had to support enterprise B2B purchasing scenarios, including customer-specific pricing, account hierarchies, role-based access, and RFQ-based procurement workflows.

Live Product Customization for 800+ SKUs

Elogic integrated live product customization for more than 800 custom-printed SKUs, allowing customers to configure personalized products while maintaining pricing accuracy and operational scalability.

17 Localized Country Storefronts

The solution included 17 country storefronts managed under unified governance, with localized VAT, language, product assortment, and market-specific commerce logic.

Business Challenge

01

Legacy WooCommerce infrastructure

The existing WooCommerce storefront could not support customer-specific pricing, role-based purchasing, multi-buyer company accounts, quote workflows, or product customization required for B2B operations at scale.

02

Complex multi-country catalog (12,000+ SKUs)

The product structure required scalable category architecture, specification-based filtering, country-specific assortments, and regulatory restriction handling for food-contact materials , none of which was achievable on the legacy platform.

03

ERP dependency (SAP B1 as system of record)

All pricing, inventory, and customer master data resided in SAP Business One, requiring reliable bidirectional synchronization, prevention of data drift, and real-time order consistency across 17 markets.

04

Manual B2B procurement workflows

Orders flowed through email, phone, and PDF forms, consuming approximately 38% of regional sales team capacity and generating 4–6% error rates on manually keyed orders.

05

Slow distributor onboarding

The 10-day onboarding cycle was directly cited by the commercial team as a competitive disadvantage against more digitally mature competitors.

Elogic's Solution

Shopify Plus B2B Platform

Full Shopify Plus B2B implementation designed for European packaging distribution:

  • Shopify Plus Company Accounts modeling Zeus’s distributor hierarchy
  • multi-buyer companies with role-based permissions (buyer, approver, admin)
  • configurable spending limits and order approval thresholds
  • customer-specific catalogs and price lists generated from SAP B1 data
  • net payment terms, credit limits, and currency assignments inherited from SAP customer masters

SAP Business One Integration

Deep middleware-based integration between Shopify Plus and SAP Business One, ensuring ERP as the system of record. The middleware is built on Node.js with a Redis-backed queue and PostgreSQL state store, handling bidirectional synchronization, transformation logic, retry semantics, and full audit logging.

Five primary data flows were implemented:

  • customer master sync from SAP B1 to Shopify on creation and update events
  • product and pricing sync from SAP B1, enriched by Akeneo PIM, to Shopify catalogs on a 15-minute cadence with delta detection
  • real-time inventory polling for high-velocity SKUs with cached fallback for catalog browsing
  • order injection from Shopify to SAP B1 with validation, credit hold checking, and idempotent retry on failure
  • order status callbacks pushing fulfillment, invoicing, and shipping updates back to Shopify

Result: elimination of manual data handling and pricing inconsistencies across 17 markets.

RFQ & Quote-to-Order Workflows

For non-stocked items, custom-print configurations, and volume orders exceeding contractual thresholds, Elogic implemented a structured RFQ workflow:

  • buyers submit quote requests with SKU specifications, quantity, target delivery date, and artwork uploads
  • quotes route to regional sales engineers with internal approval logic
  • approved quotes convert directly into Shopify draft orders that synchronize to SAP B1 as sales orders upon buyer acceptance

Zakeke Product Customization

For the 800+ customizable SKUs, primarily custom-printed labels, pouches, and rigid containers, Zakeke was integrated for live 2D and 3D product configuration:

  • print-ready artwork upload with format validation
  • color matching and Pantone reference handling
  • live price recalculation through middleware queries to SAP B1 for configuration-specific costing rules

Multi-Country Storefront Architecture

All 17 country storefronts were configured under a single Shopify Plus organization using Markets:

  • localized languages, currencies, and assortment rules driven by Akeneo PIM
  • country-specific VAT logic and EU OSS/IOSS tax handling via third-party tax engine
  • unified governance with localized commercial policies and regulatory compliance
