Armacell, a Luxembourg-based global manufacturer of insulation foams and engineered materials, delivers solutions that make buildings safer and more energy-efficient.
To bring the same efficiency to its digital operations, the company partnered with Elogic Commerce to build a scalable B2B self-service portal on Adobe Commerce Enterprise, aligning regional workflows and integrating with SAP and PIM systems.
Within the first months of collaboration, Armacell saw tangible improvements, including a fivefold reduction in approval delays and a 40% decrease in manual order processing.

For Armacell, digitizing the ordering process was a strategic step toward scaling in APAC and beyond. As a result of a collaborative session between Elogic and Armacell, we’ve outlined clear objectives that would bring efficiency, accuracy, and consistency to every stage of the order lifecycle:

Challenges defining Armacell’s digital roadmap

Transforming Armacell’s ordering process meant more than lifting their catalog online. The project was defined by complex requirements that demanded tailored solutions, both technically and operationally. Together with Armacell, we’ve identified the following hurdles that shaped the roadmap.

Ordering workflows tied to ERP logic

Bulk orders required a custom checkout that mirrored ERP-driven steps like total validation and approval before fulfillment.

Complex fulfillment scenarios

Orders span multiple warehouses and partial shipments with varying lead times, requiring real-time stock visibility.

Product complexity at scale

Rouped and configurable Gitems with engineering-specific attributes had to be presented clearly for construction professionals.

Heavy system dependencies

Tight SAP 4Hana and PIM integrations were essential to avoid data silos and ensure accuracy in customer, order, and product flows.

User experience expectations

A design aligned with Armacell’s brand had to remain practical for engineering and procurement teams managing intricate orders.

How we turned those challenges into a roadmap for success

We approached Armacell’s project as a digital transformation journey, not a one-off implementation. From the start, our focus was to design a solution that would untangle complex B2B workflows, support regional growth, and deliver a user experience strong enough to win over both customers and internal sales teams.

Custom online ordering experience

The first task was rethinking the ordering flow. Standard ecommerce checkouts weren’t designed for the bulk orders Armacell processes daily. 

We built a tailored experience that mirrored ERP logic, introducing steps for total amount validation and order confirmation before fulfillment. This gave internal teams assurance of accuracy and gave customers a smooth, predictable way to manage large orders.

Complex fulfillment scenarios

With warehouses spread across regions, fulfillment required more than a one-size-fits-all approach. 

We enabled multiple and partial shipments, backed by real-time stock visibility across inventory locations. This meant orders could be split, tracked, and delivered without delays, no matter how complicated the logistics.

Custom product structure

Armacell’s catalog was anything but simple. Products came with engineering-specific attributes, grouped assemblies, and highly configurable options. 

We created advanced product detail pages and mapped attributes directly from the PIM, ensuring engineers and procurement teams could configure products precisely while avoiding errors.

Seamless system integrations

Behind the portal, SAP 4Hana and the custom PIM had to stay in perfect sync. We integrated customer data, custom entities like “Building Projects,” order creation, approval workflows, and real-time updates on fulfillment, pricing, and inventory. 

The PIM handled product content and attribute sync, creating a single source of truth across regions.

Design implementation

Finally, we wrapped everything in a responsive design aligned with Armacell’s brand. The UX was optimized for B2B ease-of-use, with engineering and procurement teams in mind, so functionality and clarity always came before visual excess.

The first deployments in Singapore and Thailand marked a decisive step toward Armacell’s digital transformation. Each launch brought functional improvements that streamlined operations and set the foundation for global scalability.
