A consumer electronics brand was selling its products to the US market
THE BACKSTORY

To distribute their products to the USA, Turcom Electronics, Turkish consumer electronics brand, used a number of channels including their own ecommerce website. Wholesalers, dropshipping companies and regular buyers shopped on TurcomUSA.com for various kinds of tech gadgets including security cameras, Bluetooth speakers, led lamps, and graphic drawing tablets.

While Turcom’s products sold successfully on marketplaces such as Amazon and eBay, their own website failed to bring a sufficient number of sales.

To improve the user experience and increase sales, Turcom owners decided to redesign their website and build new functionality as well as migrate the TurcomUSA.com from Magento 1 to Magento 2. They hired us to implement custom functionality and implement the migration.

Even though Magento 1 and Magento 2 are both Magento, they are very different.
  • New generation

    Magento 2 is a new generation, a complete rebuild of the platform, and it's the one that's going to be actively maintained going forward.

  • Migrating

    Migrating from Magento 1 to Magento 2 is similar to building an ecommerce store from scratch. You would need an ecommerce development team who has done this before to implement the project successfully

  • 2016

    But at that time – in 2016, a year after Magento 2 was released to the public – there weren't many ecommerce developers with the Magento 2 development experience.

  • We were the only company in Eastern Europe who had Magento 1 to Magento 2 migration projects in our portfolio. Turcom founders reached out to Elogic.

    What followed was one of the longest partnerships that brought us Mount-it, another more complicated project from the same client.

Amazon-like reviews

We developed a custom module that allows customers to leave product rating and reviews the same way it works on Amazon. This feature increases conversion and user trust.

Comment reviews

To address negative reviews and increase customer engagement, we implemented the possibility for a store manager to respond to reviews from the admin panel.

On sale

We implemented an orange sign On Sale to let customers know that the product is sold with a discount.

Bestselling products

The bestseller module allows showing best-selling products on the home page and this way incentivize repeated purchases.

"Notify me when in stock"

For products that aren't currently available, we implemented a "notify me when in stock" feature. This feature lets users leave an email and receive a notification once the product is available.

Press reviews

On the Turcom home page, there is a slider with article previews. Every slide has its own SEO URL that opens up a separate page with an article talking about new product releases. We developed this feature to increase brand awareness.

Widget with the product description

One the product page there is a custom widget with a product description. It allows customers to learn more about a tech gadget and make an informed buying decision.

Resources

Turcom shoppers can download files with PDF manuals on product set-up and troubleshooting. Paper manuals are very inconvenient, and digital copies greatly simplify the customer experience.

It took us about four months to implement the entire project. Our development team included backend and frontend developers, a project manager and a quality assurance specialist.
