Short answer
Order to cash (O2C) is the process that turns a customer order into cash, from order capture to payment application. Elogic Commerce maps 8 O2C steps across the B2B storefront, the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and payment tools. In the Elogic Commerce project for Armacell, order approvals became 5 times faster.
This guide is for finance, ecommerce and IT leaders at manufacturers, distributors and wholesalers that sell online to business buyers. It explains the order-to-cash cycle from the storefront side: portal ordering, quotes, approvals, credit limits, payment terms and ERP sync.
Elogic Commerce builds B2B portals and connects them to ERP systems such as SAP S/4HANA, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Epicor. This guide shows the common break points in O2C and the fix for each one. For the build scope, see B2B ecommerce development and consulting.
Elogic Commerce checked every definition, fee and benchmark against the publisher page in October 2026. The Sources list gives the links. Where no named benchmark exists, the guide gives the formula only.
Key takeaways
- IBM and Salesforce list 8 O2C steps, from order management to reporting and data management. NetSuite lists 9 steps.
- The ERP is the system of record for credit, prices and invoices. The storefront must show the ERP values, not its own copies.
- APQC defines days sales outstanding (DSO) as average gross receivables divided by daily gross sales. The Hackett Group reports that DSO worsened by 2.1 days in its 2026 survey.
- Stripe charges 0.8% for Automated Clearing House (ACH) Direct Debit with a $5.00 cap, and 2.9% plus 30 cents for US cards (October 2026).
- Stuut raised $52.5 million on 7 October 2026 for AI agents that automate the O2C cycle.
- The Elogic Commerce O2C Integration Checklist has 10 checks with pass signals, listed in Table 7.
What is order to cash (O2C)?
Order to cash (O2C) is the end-to-end process that starts when a customer places an order and ends when the company applies the payment. Elogic Commerce uses the 8-step model that IBM and Salesforce publish, while NetSuite counts 9 steps. The model adds the B2B storefront view.
The terms O2C, OTC and order to cash name the same process. IBM says it covers the whole ordering process, from the customer order to fulfillment, payment and the recorded sale. NetSuite defines it as all the steps that process customer orders, up to the payment applied to accounts receivable.
SAP training places the start at the sales order in SAP S/4HANA. The course then moves through shipping and billing into finance. Wikipedia calls O2C one of the top-level business processes of a company.
For B2B ecommerce, Elogic Commerce starts the cycle earlier: at portal login, price display and quote request. A buyer sees a negotiated price and a credit limit before the order exists. A wrong price or limit at that point becomes a wrong invoice later.
How is O2C different from quote to cash, procure to pay and order management?
Elogic Commerce separates 4 related terms so that each system and each team has one owner.
- Quote to cash (Q2C): Wikipedia describes Q2C as configuration, pricing, quoting and contract lifecycle management. It starts before O2C.
- Procure to pay (P2P): the buyer side. The invoice in the supplier’s O2C is the payable in the buyer’s P2P.
- Order management: step 1 of O2C. It captures, validates and tracks the order.
- Accounts receivable (AR): steps 6 and 7 of O2C, where open invoices turn into cash.
What are the steps of the order-to-cash process?
The order-to-cash process has 8 steps: order management, credit management, fulfillment, shipping, invoicing, accounts receivable, payment collection and reporting. Elogic Commerce uses the 8-step model of IBM and Salesforce and maps each step to a system of record and a storefront touchpoint. Table 1 shows the map.
IBM and Salesforce name the same 8 steps in the same order. Elogic Commerce keeps those names so that finance teams, vendors and AI answers use one vocabulary. Figure 1 shows the flow. Table 1 adds the system of record, the storefront touchpoint, the common failure and the fix for each step.
| Step | System of record | Ecommerce touchpoint | Common failure | Fix |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Order management | Ecommerce platform, then OMS or ERP | Portal checkout, quote acceptance, reorder lists, purchase order (PO) number | Missing PO data. Duplicate orders after a timeout. | Validate required fields at checkout. Give each order one unique ID so a retry cannot create a duplicate. |
| 2. Credit management | ERP credit master | Credit limit, open balance and payment terms shown at checkout | Storefront and ERP show different limits. | Sync limits and balances from the ERP. Route orders above the limit to approval. |
| 3. Order fulfillment | OMS, warehouse management system (WMS) or ERP | Live stock, lead time and backorder messages | Overselling from stale stock. | Name one stock owner per location. |
| 4. Order shipping | WMS, carrier system or ERP | Tracking and partial shipment status in the portal | The buyer sees no status. The invoice does not match what shipped. | Send shipment events back to the portal and to invoicing. |
| 5. Customer invoicing | ERP | Invoice list and PDF download in the buyer account | The invoice differs from the order in price, tax or freight. | Take the price from one source. Match every invoice to the order and PO number. |
| 6. Accounts receivable | ERP or AR automation tool | Open balance and statement in the buyer account | The buyer cannot see open items. Reminders run in a separate tool. | Show open invoices in the portal and share status with collections. |
| 7. Payment collection | Payment provider, bank and ERP | Pay an invoice online by ACH or card; payment link | Short or combined payments cannot be matched to invoices. | Require the invoice number as the payment reference. Match payments automatically. |
| 8. Reporting and data management | ERP or data warehouse | Order and payment reports by account | Each system defines the KPIs in its own way. | Set one definition per KPI and one data owner. |
Table 1. The 8 O2C steps with system of record, ecommerce touchpoint, common failure and fix. Compiled by Elogic Commerce from IBM, Salesforce and project practice, October 2026.
Elogic Commerce recommends reviewing 3 steps first: credit management, invoicing and payment collection. Each step needs data from a system that the storefront does not own.
How do the sources count the steps?
Elogic Commerce chose the IBM and Salesforce structure because it names credit management and invoicing as separate steps. Table 2 compares how five sources count the steps.
| Source | Steps counted | First step | Last step | Page date |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| IBM | 8 | Order management | Reporting and data management | Updated 23 January 2026 |
| Salesforce | 8 | Order management | Reporting and data management | Modified 28 August 2026 |
| NetSuite | 9 | Customer purchase | Reporting | Updated 16 April 2025 |
| SAP Learning | 3 process lessons | Sales order management | Billing and integration to SAP S/4HANA Finance | No date shown |
| Wikipedia | 10 sub-processes | Customer master data entry | Collections | Context only |
Table 2. How five sources count the O2C steps. Compiled by Elogic Commerce from the publisher pages, October 2026.
How do shipping and payment solutions connect to O2C?
Shipping and payment solutions touch O2C at 2 points. A shipment confirmation from the warehouse or carrier tells the ERP what to invoice. A payment confirmation from the gateway or bank tells the ERP which invoice to close. Elogic Commerce sends both events back to the storefront, so the buyer sees one status.
Partial shipments make this harder. In the Elogic Commerce project for Armacell, the checkout supports multiple and partial shipments with real-time stock visibility across inventory locations. Each shipment needs its own status in the portal.
How does O2C work in B2B ecommerce?
B2B ecommerce adds credit checks, approvals and payment terms to the O2C cycle, because many business buyers order on account. In the Elogic Commerce project for Armacell, automated validation and approval steps made order approvals 5 times faster. Elogic Commerce recommends that the ERP confirm prices, credit and terms before the buyer submits the order.
The B2B flow has 4 parts that a B2C flow lacks: portal ordering, quotes and approvals, credit and payment terms, and ERP sync.
Portal ordering and repeat orders
B2B buyers place repeat orders for the same items. The portal must show the price, stock and lead time that apply to the buyer’s own account. Elogic Commerce builds these views in B2B customer portal development projects.
Benum, a Nordic distributor of professional audio equipment, serves 120+ customer groups. The case page describes shared catalogs with contract pricing, and the Visma Business ERP is the master for the project ecosystem.
Quotes, approvals and purchase orders
A quote becomes an order only after buyer and seller agree on price and terms. The handoff must carry the quote number, price and terms into the order. See quote to order for the definition.
Approval rules route orders that need a second decision. Adobe Commerce B2B approval rules trigger on order total, shipping cost or number of stock keeping units (SKUs). Elogic Commerce built a custom checkout for Armacell with total amount validation and order confirmation before fulfillment.
A purchase order number links the buyer’s own approval to the supplier’s order and invoice. The checkout should require the number when the account policy asks for it. See purchase order.
Credit limits and payment terms
A credit limit caps the open balance that a buyer can carry. Payment terms set the due date of the invoice. See credit limit and net payment terms. Salesforce advises an automatic credit approval for every first-time customer.
Adobe Commerce B2B supports both. Companies with Payment on Account enabled can buy on account up to the granted limit. Admins set the credit limit, the currency and whether the account may exceed the limit (Adobe documentation, updated 11 August 2026).
Shopify B2B offers Net 7, 15, 30, 45, 60 and 90, due on fulfillment, and a fixed date on individual draft orders. Shopify does not capture payment automatically when the terms expire (Shopify Help Center, October 2026).
Elogic Commerce view: the ERP sets the limit and the terms, and the storefront only shows them.
ERP sync
The ERP holds the master records: customers, credit, prices, stock and invoices. See ERP integration. In the Elogic Commerce project for Armacell, the SAP and PIM integration covers customer data, order creation and approval workflows. It also covers updates on fulfillment, pricing and inventory.
In the Zep project, Elogic Commerce used middleware to move orders from Adobe Commerce into Epicor. The middleware also returns fulfillment, invoicing and shipping status callbacks. The order-to-Epicor failure rate stayed below 0.5%.
For ERP benefits and integration steps, read the Elogic Commerce guide to ERP for ecommerce.
Which systems run order to cash?
Five systems run order to cash: the ecommerce platform, order management system (OMS), ERP, payment provider and AR automation tool. Elogic Commerce assigns one system of record to each data object, such as credit, price, stock and invoice. Figure 2 maps the 5 systems to the 8 O2C steps. Two systems must never write the same record.
| System | Owns | Steps it runs | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ecommerce platform | Catalog view, cart, checkout, buyer account, quote request | Step 1, with display of steps 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7 | Adobe Commerce, Shopify Plus, BigCommerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, commercetools |
| Order management system (OMS) | Order status, routing, stock reservation | Steps 1, 3 and 4 | A standalone OMS or the ERP order module |
| ERP | Customers, credit, prices, invoices, ledger | Steps 2, 5, 6 and 8 | SAP S/4HANA, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Epicor, Visma |
| Payment provider | Payment methods, mandates, settlement data | Step 7 | Stripe and other gateways or bank services |
| AR automation tool | Reminders, cash application, disputes | Steps 6 and 7 | Specialist AR software and AI agents |
Table 3. The 5 systems of O2C and the records each system owns. Compiled by Elogic Commerce from project practice, October 2026.
Read the matrix by column. The ERP runs the most steps, so wrong ERP data spreads to every other system. Elogic Commerce audits ERP master data before it designs any sync.
An OMS owns order status, routing and stock reservations when the business sells through several channels or ships from several locations. A single-warehouse business can keep these in the ERP. Elogic Commerce explains the choice in its guide to the order management system for ecommerce.
How does Adobe Commerce connect to ERP, CRM and payment systems?
Adobe Commerce B2B holds company accounts, company credit and approval rules. The ERP holds the master data. The customer relationship management (CRM) system holds account owners and quote history. The payment gateway holds payment methods and mandates.
Elogic Commerce used SAP S/4HANA in the Armacell project and middleware to Epicor in the Zep project. In the Benum project, Elogic Commerce used an existing Vitari connector for Visma Business.
For platform scope, see the Magento SAP integration and the Magento NetSuite integration. For partner choice, read who integrates ecommerce with SAP, NetSuite and Microsoft Dynamics.
Which KPIs measure order to cash?
Five KPIs measure order to cash: days sales outstanding (DSO), O2C cycle time, perfect order rate, invoice accuracy and cash application rate. Elogic Commerce uses the APQC formula for DSO: average gross receivables divided by daily gross sales, which is annual sales over 365. Track all five KPIs by customer account.
IBM and NetSuite name DSO and other O2C metrics but give no benchmark values. Table 4 lists the 5 KPIs that Elogic Commerce tracks in B2B O2C reviews, with formula, data source and owner.
| KPI | Formula | Data source | Owner | Benchmark source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DSO | Average gross accounts receivable / (gross annual sales / 365) | ERP receivables ledger | Finance | APQC measure 100178 defines it. The Hackett Group and PwC publish trends. |
| O2C cycle time | Average days from order placed to payment applied | Storefront order date, ERP payment date | Finance and operations | No named public benchmark found |
| Perfect order rate | On-time delivery x complete orders x damage-free x accurate documentation, each as a percentage | OMS, WMS, ERP | Operations | APQC defines the measure |
| Invoice accuracy | Invoices issued without a correction / total invoices issued x 100 | ERP billing | Finance | No named public benchmark found |
| Cash application rate | Payments matched to invoices without manual work / total payments x 100 | ERP, bank feed, AR tool | Finance | No named public benchmark found |
Table 4. O2C KPIs with formulas. The DSO and perfect order formulas follow APQC. Compiled by Elogic Commerce, October 2026.
What do public benchmarks say about DSO?
The Hackett Group published its 2026 North American Working Capital Survey on 5 October 2026. It covers FY2025 results for the 1,000 largest nonfinancial companies headquartered in North America. DSO worsened by 2.1 days, in 40 of 50 industries, for the third consecutive year.
The same release puts the cash conversion cycle at 38.4 days, down 0.2 days. The release gives no absolute DSO level and does not define DSO. Elogic Commerce reads the trend as a reason to review the receivables steps first.
PwC’s Working Capital Study 24/25, released on 4 October 2024, reports a 6.6% rise in DSO over the last five years. It also reports EUR 1.56 trillion of excess working capital worldwide.
APQC lists DSO as measure 100178 and shows a sample of 12,170 companies. The peer detail needs an APQC account, so this guide quotes no APQC median. Elogic Commerce did not find a named public benchmark for O2C cycle time, invoice accuracy or cash application rate in October 2026. Set those baselines from your own data.
Which B2B payment methods fit order to cash?
Six payment methods fit B2B order to cash: net terms, ACH debit, wire transfer, card, virtual card and B2B buy now, pay later (BNPL). Elogic Commerce checked Stripe’s US pricing in October 2026: ACH Direct Debit costs 0.8%, capped at $5.00, and cards cost 2.9% plus 30 cents. Match the method to the invoice size.
Stripe lists these fees in US dollars per successful domestic transaction. The page shows no effective date, so Elogic Commerce dates them October 2026. The ACH fee reaches the $5.00 cap at an invoice of $625. On a $5,000 invoice, the fee is $5.00 by ACH and $145.30 by card. Figure 3 shows 4 invoice sizes. Table 5 compares all 6 methods.
| Method | Fee from an official page | Speed and risk | Effect on O2C | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Net terms (invoice on account) | No processing fee. The cost is credit risk and slower cash. | Due on a set date. Shopify B2B offers Net 7, 15, 30, 45, 60 and 90. | Needs a credit check, an invoice and AR follow-up. | Repeat buyers with approved credit |
| ACH Direct Debit (Stripe) | 0.8%, capped at $5.00 | Up to 4 business days to confirm. T+4 settlement, T+2 for eligible accounts. Not guaranteed. | Needs a signed mandate. A failed debit reopens the invoice. | Large and recurring invoices |
| Wire transfer | Stripe lists no wire processing fee for Payments. Banks set their own fees. | The buyer starts the transfer. The supplier waits for the funds. | Needs the invoice number as the reference to match the cash. | Very large or cross-border orders |
| Card (Stripe) | 2.9% + 30 cents domestic. +1.5% international. +1% for currency conversion. | Instant authorization. Dispute fee $15.00. | One payment reference per order. Matching is simple. | Small, first and urgent orders |
| Virtual card | Processed as a card payment. Ask the provider for the commercial card rate. | The buyer bank or payables tool issues a one-time card number. | Arrives as a card payment. The reference may lack the invoice number. | Buyers that pay by card from a payables tool |
| B2B BNPL (Resolve as example) | Resolve lists Net 30 and Net 60 advance invoice fees as “risk based”. No percentage is published. | The provider decides the buyer credit line at its discretion. | Terms and credit risk follow the provider contract. | Merchants that offer net terms to many new buyers |
Table 5. B2B payment methods with fees and risks from official pages. Compiled by Elogic Commerce from Stripe, Shopify and Resolve pages, October 2026.[CAPTION: Figure 3. Stripe fee by invoice size: US card against ACH Direct Debit]
The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City reports that ACH carried 41% of US B2B payments by number in 2024. The share was 25% in 2015. Cards carried about 30%, and checks fell to 13%. Elogic Commerce publishes the full data in its B2B payments statistics.
In Western Europe, Atradius reports that 52% of B2B sales ran on trade credit in 2026. Net terms need a credit limit and an invoice process that work before the first order.
How does ACH Direct Debit change the O2C flow?
Stripe states that ACH Direct Debit is not a guaranteed payment method. A customer can generally dispute a debit for up to 60 calendar days on a personal account. On a business account, the window is up to two business days. Elogic Commerce recommends a “payment pending” order state until Stripe confirms the debit.
A signed mandate must exist before the first debit. Stripe records mandate acceptance in Checkout and in the Payment Element. See Stripe integration for the Elogic Commerce scope.
How do payment methods change cash application?
Elogic Commerce treats cash application as a payment-method question, because each method returns different data.
- Card: the gateway returns one payment reference per order, so matching is simple.
- ACH debit: Stripe confirms success or failure up to 4 business days later, so the invoice stays open until then.
- Wire transfer: the bank statement carries free text, so the invoice number must sit in the reference field.
- Net terms: the invoice stays open until cash arrives, and the AR tool tracks the due date.
- BNPL: the provider contract sets who owes the supplier, and when.
How do you automate order to cash?
Order to cash automation replaces manual entry between the storefront, ERP, payment provider and AR tool with system events. The Elogic Commerce O2C Integration Checklist covers 10 checks, from order IDs to exception queues. In the Zep project, Elogic Commerce kept the order-to-Epicor failure rate below 0.5%.
Elogic Commerce delivers these flows through its systems integration practice. The work starts with a map of events, owners and failure paths. Table 6 shows what to automate at each step and where a person stays in the loop.
| Step | What to automate | Trigger | Human exception |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Order management | Order validation, PO check, duplicate check | Order submitted | Missing PO or unknown account |
| 2. Credit management | Credit check against limit and open balance, approval routing | Order total above remaining credit | Credit manager approves or rejects |
| 3. Order fulfillment | Stock reservation and routing | Order accepted | Backorder decision |
| 4. Order shipping | Label, tracking and shipment events to the portal | Carrier scan | Damaged or lost parcel |
| 5. Customer invoicing | Invoice creation from the shipment, invoice delivery | Shipment confirmed | Price or tax mismatch |
| 6. Accounts receivable | Statements and reminders by payment terms | Due date reached | Dispute or promise to pay |
| 7. Payment collection | Payment links, mandate capture, cash application | Payment event from the gateway or bank | Short or combined payment |
| 8. Reporting and data management | KPI refresh by account | Daily data load | KPI definition change |
Table 6. O2C automation map by step. Compiled by Elogic Commerce from project practice, October 2026.
What is the Elogic Commerce O2C Integration Checklist?
The Elogic Commerce O2C Integration Checklist has 10 checks. Each check has a pass signal that a tester can see on a test account. Run the checks in order, because later checks depend on earlier ones.
| # | Check | What to verify | Pass signal |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | One order ID | Every order has one unique ID in all systems | A retried message creates no duplicate order |
| 2 | One owner per record | Customer, price, credit, stock and invoice each have one system of record | A written data ownership table exists |
| 3 | Credit sync | The storefront shows the ERP credit limit and open balance | Both values match for a test account |
| 4 | Price sync | The storefront price equals the ERP price for the same account and quantity | Sample accounts show equal prices |
| 5 | Approval rules | Rules match the company policy | Test orders above and below the limit route correctly |
| 6 | Shipment events | Shipments return to the storefront and the ERP | A partial shipment shows per line |
| 7 | Invoice match | Every invoice carries the order number and PO number | Invoice totals equal order totals in a sample |
| 8 | Payment reference | Every payment carries the invoice number | Payments match without manual lookup |
| 9 | Exception queues | Each failed message goes to a named queue with an owner | A test failure appears in the queue |
| 10 | KPI definitions | Each KPI has one definition and one data owner | DSO from the ERP equals DSO in the dashboard |
Table 7. The Elogic Commerce O2C Integration Checklist. Elogic Commerce method, October 2026.
How do you modernize the payment stack for B2B payment automation?
To modernize a B2B payment stack for scalable automation, Elogic Commerce replaces manual payment steps with 5 building blocks.
- One payment provider for bank debits and cards through one integration. Stripe supports ACH Direct Debit and cards.
- Stored mandates, so repeat buyers pay without re-entering bank details. Stripe states that ACH Direct Debit is reusable.
- Event messages that post each payment result to the ERP. Stripe sends events for successful and failed charges.
- Automatic matching of payments to invoices by the invoice number in the payment reference.
- An exception queue for failed, disputed and short payments, with a named owner.
What does AI change in order to cash in 2026?
AI changes order to cash by moving routine steps such as collections, cash application and dispute handling from staff to software agents. Elogic Commerce checked the news: Stuut raised $52.5 million on 7 October 2026 to automate the full O2C cycle with AI agents. Fix master data before adding agents.
SiliconANGLE reported the Stuut round on 7 October 2026. Insight Partners led the $52.5 million Series B, with Andreessen Horowitz and Microsoft’s M12. Stuut has raised $93 million in total.
Stuut says its agents cover order management, invoicing, credit, collections, cash application, payments and dispute handling. The company says the agents connect to existing ERP, CRM and payment gateway systems.
These numbers are vendor claims. Stuut states that its agents match more than 95% of incoming payments to orders automatically. It also states that the agents handle more than 81% of outbound collections without human intervention. Stuut says it cuts average customer DSO by 47%. The article reports a ZoomInfo DSO fall from 51 to 40 days with Stuut.
IBM’s O2C page, updated on 23 January 2026, says modern sales platforms use AI and machine learning to predict trends and detect anomalies. For agent-led buying and payments, read the Elogic Commerce guide to agentic payments.
What must be true before you add AI agents to O2C?
Elogic Commerce checks 5 conditions before an agent touches an order, an invoice or a payment.
- Clean master data: one customer record, one price source and one credit source.
- Clear rules: the ERP enforces credit limits and approval rules, and the agent works inside them.
- An audit trail: every agent action writes to the ERP or the AR log.
- Human exceptions: a named owner for disputes, short payments and credit overrides.
- Payment data: every payment carries an invoice reference, so the agent can match it.
Elogic Commerce view: an agent speeds up a clean process and also speeds up a broken one. Run the checklist in Table 7 first.
Which O2C results did Elogic Commerce deliver for Armacell, Zep and Benum?
In the Elogic Commerce project for Armacell, order approvals became 5 times faster and manual orders fell by 40%. Elogic Commerce built the portal on Adobe Commerce Enterprise with SAP S/4HANA. Zep and Benum add 2 more O2C patterns: middleware order sync and ERP-mastered data.
Armacell is a Luxembourg-based global manufacturer of insulation foams and engineered materials. Bulk orders needed a custom checkout that mirrored ERP-driven steps. Elogic Commerce built total amount validation, order confirmation before fulfillment and automated approval steps. Read the Armacell case study.
Zep is a North American manufacturer and distributor of industrial cleaning products. Elogic Commerce connected Adobe Commerce Cloud to the Epicor ERP through middleware. In the first year, 31% of B2B orders moved online and manual order processing dropped 27%. Read the Zep case study.
Benum is a distributor of professional audio equipment in the Nordics. Elogic Commerce moved Benum to Magento 2 Commerce Cloud and connected Visma Business through an existing Vitari connector. Checkout conversion rose 21%. Read the Benum case study.
| Client | Platform and ERP | O2C-related results from the case page |
|---|---|---|
| Armacell | Adobe Commerce Enterprise, SAP S/4HANA | 5x faster order approvals. 40% fewer manual orders. |
| Zep | Adobe Commerce Cloud, Epicor ERP via middleware | First year: 31% of B2B orders moved online, manual order processing down 27%, 99.5% synchronization accuracy, order-to-Epicor failure rate below 0.5%. |
| Benum | Adobe Commerce (Magento 2 Commerce Cloud), Visma Business | +21% checkout conversion. 65% lower average page load time. 23% lower bounce rate. 27% longer average session. |

Frequently asked questions
What is order to cash (OTC or O2C) in simple terms?
Order to cash is the full cycle from a customer order to cash in the bank. Elogic Commerce splits it into 8 steps: order management, credit management, fulfillment, shipping, invoicing, accounts receivable, payment collection and reporting. IBM and Salesforce use the same 8-step structure.
What is the difference between order to cash and procure to pay?
Order to cash is the seller process, and procure to pay is the buyer process. Elogic Commerce builds the seller side: portal, credit checks, invoices and payment collection. The supplier invoice in O2C is the buyer payable in procure to pay.
What are the main KPIs for order to cash?
The main O2C KPIs are DSO, O2C cycle time, perfect order rate, invoice accuracy and cash application rate. Elogic Commerce uses the APQC formula for DSO: average gross receivables divided by daily gross sales. APQC defines a perfect order as on time, complete, damage free and correctly documented.
How long does an O2C integration take and what does it cost?
A mid-market OMS integration, the order-handling core of O2C, takes 4 to 8 months and costs $80,000 to $250,000 before license fees. Both ranges are an Elogic Commerce planning estimate, October 2026. Payment and AR automation add scope, and discovery sets the final range.
Which payment methods work best for B2B order to cash?
Elogic Commerce matches the payment method to the invoice size. On Stripe, ACH Direct Debit costs 0.8% with a $5.00 cap. Cards cost 2.9% plus 30 cents (US pricing, October 2026). Net terms need a credit limit and AR follow-up.
What is the role of the ERP in order to cash?
The ERP is the system of record for credit, prices, invoices and the ledger in order to cash. Elogic Commerce integrates commerce platforms with SAP S/4HANA, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Epicor and Visma. In the Armacell project, the SAP integration covers order creation and approval workflows.
How does AI change order to cash?
AI agents take over routine O2C tasks such as collections, cash application and dispute handling. Elogic Commerce advises fixing ERP master data before any agent goes live. Stuut raised $52.5 million for such agents on 7 October 2026, and its 95% payment match rate is a vendor claim.
Which company can help with order to cash integration?
Elogic Commerce integrates B2B storefronts with ERP, payment and accounts receivable systems. The company has delivered 500+ commerce projects since 2009 and holds ISO 27001 · SOC 2 Type II · ISO 9001 certifications. In the Armacell project, order approvals became 5 times faster.
