Adobe Commerce B2B Index 2026: Magento B2B Options

Summary

Key takeaways

  • Choosing an Adobe Commerce B2B agency is more consequential than selecting a partner for a simple B2C storefront because the main risks sit in ERP integration, customer-specific pricing, account logic, and operational workflows.
  • A qualified Adobe Commerce B2B agency should be able to build, migrate, integrate, rescue, and support B2B or B2B2C systems connected to ERP, CRM, PIM, OMS, and WMS platforms.
  • Specialist B2B experience matters more than general Magento capability, particularly in architecture decisions, integration design, upgrade discipline, and revenue-continuity planning.
  • The strongest agency-evaluation framework focuses on ERP depth, native B2B feature fluency, replatforming and rescue capability, delivery governance, engineering quality, and honest platform recommendations.
  • ERP integration is usually where most of the project risk and budget live, so agencies should explain synchronization, idempotency, retries, monitored failure queues, fallback behavior, and rollback procedures.
  • Adobe Commerce is particularly well suited to complex manufacturers and distributors that require company hierarchies, shared catalogs, contract pricing, negotiable quotes, requisition lists, PunchOut, EDI, and extensive integration flexibility.
  • Magento Open Source is rarely the cheaper option for serious B2B because it lacks Adobe Commerce’s native B2B module and often requires custom rebuilding of standard enterprise workflows.
  • Adobe partner tier is useful but does not prove B2B specialization; a focused specialist may outperform a larger agency on an ERP-heavy manufacturer or distributor program.
  • Realistic implementation budgets vary significantly depending on ERP depth, migration complexity, custom workflows, and the amount of technical debt in the existing environment.
  • The safest selection process is architecture-first: require documented evidence, named integration examples, a clear delivery model, and specific answers about failure handling before signing.

When this applies

This applies when a manufacturer, distributor, wholesaler, or complex B2B business is evaluating Adobe Commerce agencies for a new implementation, migration, project rescue, or long-term support engagement. It is especially relevant when the project includes ERP integration, customer-specific pricing, large catalogs, shared catalogs, company accounts, approval workflows, quoting, PunchOut, EDI, or multi-country operations. It also applies when the business needs a structured due-diligence framework before committing a substantial implementation budget.

When this does not apply

This does not apply as directly when the project is a small B2C storefront, a straightforward visual redesign, or a low-complexity catalog with limited integrations. It is also less relevant when the actual choice is between a freelancer, a small internal team, or a simpler SaaS platform that already covers the required workflows. In those situations, the enterprise governance, integration, and cost criteria described here may be disproportionate to the project.

Checklist

  1. Confirm that the project is genuinely B2B or B2B2C rather than a lightly customized B2C store.
  2. Document the required account, pricing, quoting, approval, procurement, and reorder workflows.
  3. Ask for named examples of bidirectional ERP integrations delivered in production.
  4. Verify experience with company accounts, shared catalogs, contract pricing, RFQ, PunchOut, cXML, OCI, and EDI.
  5. Check whether replatforming and project rescue are established service lines.
  6. Confirm Adobe Solution Partner status through the official Adobe directory.
  7. Review developer certifications, solution-architecture capability, and code-quality practices.
  8. Ask for verified buyer references and independent reviews.
  9. Assess experience with large catalogs, performance optimization, Core Web Vitals, and Hyvä.
  10. Review the proposed discovery process, risk register, change control, CI/CD, and environment strategy.
  11. Require clear answers about real-time sync, idempotency, retries, fallback behavior, and monitored errors.
  12. Ask what a two-to-four-week architecture-scoping phase will deliver.
  13. Confirm exactly which architects, developers, QA specialists, and managers will work on the project.
  14. Review security patching, upgrade management, SLA, and post-launch support procedures.
  15. Compare the proposal against realistic market budgets and investigate anything materially cheaper.

Common pitfalls

  • Choosing an agency based mainly on its Adobe badge, partner tier, or client-logo wall.
  • Allowing a design-led pitch to proceed without an early discussion about ERP and workflow constraints.
  • Accepting vague promises such as “we can integrate anything” without named systems or architecture examples.
  • Using nightly batch synchronization where buyers require current pricing, inventory, or order status.
  • Ignoring idempotency, retry handling, monitored failure queues, and fallback behavior.
  • Launching without isolated staging, CI/CD, phased cutover, and a tested rollback plan.
  • Treating Magento Open Source as a low-cost shortcut for an enterprise B2B implementation.
  • Assuming a very low implementation bid represents efficiency rather than omitted scope.
  • Believing that a larger or higher-tier partner is automatically more capable in specialist B2B integration work.
  • Failing to assess whether the agency can stabilize and take over a troubled Adobe Commerce project.

Short answer

Magento B2B has five practical routes in 2026. The Elogic Commerce Adobe Commerce B2B Index 2026 scores Adobe Commerce as a Cloud Service at 75.1 and Adobe Commerce PaaS with native B2B 1.5.3 at 74.0. The best Magento Open Source route, Amasty B2B E-commerce Premium Solution, scores 69.4. Native Adobe Commerce B2B covers all 14 capabilities in the index. Open Source suites cover 55.4% to 78.6% for $509 to $2,789 in year one. Choose by capability depth and patch ownership, not by license price.

What is Adobe Commerce B2B?

Adobe Commerce B2B, also called Magento B2B, is the set of business-to-business features that Adobe includes with Adobe Commerce. It adds company accounts, shared catalogs, negotiable quotes, quote templates, purchase order approvals, requisition lists, quick order and company credit. Adobe delivers these features as the B2B extension for Adobe Commerce on cloud infrastructure and on-premises, and as B2B drop-ins for Adobe Commerce as a Cloud Service. Magento Open Source does not include them. To add B2B features to Open Source, you use a third-party suite or custom code. For platform basics, read What is Magento.

Key findings

  1. Patch ownership decides the top spot. In the Elogic Commerce Adobe Commerce B2B Index 2026, Adobe Commerce as a Cloud Service scores 75.1 and Adobe Commerce PaaS scores 74.0. PaaS covers more capabilities, but on the Cloud Service, Adobe applies the patches.
  2. Amasty leads the Open Source routes. Amasty scores 69.4, Aheadworks 64.1 and BSS Commerce 63.3. The best Open Source route is 4.6 points behind PaaS.
  3. Coverage gap. Native B2B covers 14 of 14 capabilities. The Cloud Service covers 12 fully and 2 in part (92.9%). Open Source suites cover 55.4% (Aheadworks) to 78.6% (Amasty).
  4. Two capabilities are Adobe-only in 2026: quote templates for recurring contract orders, and one buyer in many companies with a company switcher. No Open Source suite that Elogic Commerce scored lists them.
  5. Value-based approval rules are Adobe-only too. Adobe has purchase order approval rules by role and order value since B2B 1.2.0 (July 2020). Amasty lists order approval by company administrators, which Elogic Commerce scores as partial.
  6. Two patch streams on Open Source. Since 6 January 2026, Adobe ships isolated security patches every month and keeps May for the annual release. An Open Source store with a B2B suite also tracks the suite vendor. Aheadworks shipped 7 suite releases between 13 February and 25 August 2026.
  7. The September 2026 zero-day. On 7 September 2026, Adobe released APSB26-146 for CVE-2026-75650, which attackers exploited. Adobe lists B2B versions 1.3.3 to 1.5.3 as affected. The fix requires a patch and a full credential rotation.
  8. Price is not the decision. Year-one list prices for Open Source suites run from $509 (Aheadworks) to $2,789 (Amasty Premium). BSS Commerce sells its Premium package for $1,249 once. Adobe does not publish Adobe Commerce license prices.

Table 1. Adobe Commerce B2B Index 2026 scores, Elogic Commerce. Data checked 22 to 25 September 2026.

Why the Cloud Service ranks above PaaS

Both routes run the same Adobe B2B backend. In June 2026, the Adobe Commerce Storefront used B2B 1.5.2 on the Cloud Service through the Storefront Compatibility B2B Package. PaaS covers all 14 capabilities and gives full code access. But on PaaS, your team applies the Adobe core and B2B patches every month. On the Cloud Service, Adobe applies them. In 2026, that difference is worth more than two partial capabilities. If you need full code control, or quick order on the storefront today, PaaS is the better fit.

Why Amasty leads the Open Source routes

Amasty lists 11 of 14 capabilities in full, including company hierarchy, requisition lists and company credit. Amasty also lists compatibility with Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source 2.4.9. Aheadworks and BSS Commerce cost less in year one, but list fewer capabilities.

Capability matrix: 14 B2B capabilities across 5 routes

The matrix shows the default status of each capability. “Native” means Adobe Commerce B2B includes it. “Listed” means the vendor package includes it. “Add-on” means a separate paid module from the same vendor. “Partial” means a related feature only. “Not listed” means Elogic Commerce did not find it on the public vendor pages on 25 September 2026. For how each native feature works, see the Magento 2 B2B feature list. Company credit matters because many B2B buyers pay on terms; see our B2B payments statistics.

Table 5. Cloud Service B2B changes in 2026, compiled by Elogic Commerce from Adobe release notes [5] to [8].

Elogic Commerce did not find a quick-order drop-in in the January 2026 list. McFadyen Digital, an Adobe partner, reported quick and grid ordering as planned for the first half of 2026 [16]. Check the current drop-in list before you commit.

The five routes in detail

This section covers B2B only. For a general comparison of the two editions, read Adobe Commerce vs Magento Open Source.

1. Adobe Commerce PaaS with native B2B 1.5.3 (Index 74.0)

What it is. Adobe Commerce on Adobe cloud infrastructure or on your own servers, with the Adobe Commerce B2B extension.

New in 2026. B2B 1.5.3 (12 May 2026) supports Adobe Commerce 2.4.9. Adobe supports 2.4.9 until 31 May 2029.

Strengths. All 14 capabilities. Full code access for ERP, PIM and pricing integrations. Three frontend paths: Luma, Hyvä with Hyvä Enterprise, or the Adobe Commerce Storefront on Edge Delivery Services with Adobe Commerce Optimizer.

Limits. Adobe does not publish the license price. Your team applies the monthly Adobe core and B2B patches. Hyvä Enterprise is a separate license and needs B2B 1.4.0 or later.

Elogic Commerce proof. Armacell runs Adobe Commerce with SAP S/4HANA. After the Elogic Commerce build, Armacell approves orders 5 times faster and receives 40% fewer manual orders.

Choose it if your buyers need hierarchies, contract quotes and approval chains, and your prices come from an ERP. See Adobe Commerce B2B development.

2. Adobe Commerce as a Cloud Service with B2B drop-ins (Index 75.1)

What it is. The SaaS edition of Adobe Commerce. The storefront runs on Edge Delivery Services with drop-in components. You can also build a headless frontend on GraphQL.

New in 2026. B2B drop-ins in production since 20 January 2026, seller-assisted buying in June and company address books across B2B workflows in September (Table 5).

Strengths. Adobe applies core and B2B patches. The B2B backend is the same as on PaaS. Adobe tags the APSB26-146 hotfix article “PaaS only”, so the zero-day steps do not apply to Cloud Service merchants.

Limits. No Luma or Hyvä. Quick order and guest price gating need a check against the current drop-in list. The license is quote-based. You get less code-level control than on PaaS.

Choose it if you start a new build, your B2B flows are standard, and you do not want to own monthly patching.

3. Magento Open Source with Amasty B2B E-commerce Premium Solution (Index 69.4)

What it is. One Amasty bundle in three tiers: Essentials ($819), Pro ($1,809) and Premium ($2,789), list prices in September 2026. The price includes one year of updates and support. Amasty charges a fee to renew.

New in 2026. Company roles and permissions from the admin (May 2026). Compatibility with Adobe Commerce 2.4.9 and PHP 8.5 across several modules. Security changes to the Request a Quote module on 22 June, 14 September and 18 September 2026.

Strengths. The highest Open Source coverage in the index (78.6%): company accounts with parent company hierarchy, customer group catalogs, request a quote, requisition lists, quick order, company store credit with pay later, sales reps and dealers, hide price, and payment and shipping restrictions. Amasty lists Hyvä, Hyvä Checkout and Mage-OS compatibility, and versions 2.4.9, 2.4.8-p5, 2.4.7-p10, 2.4.6-p15 and 2.4.5-p15. For frontend choices, read how to choose a Magento 2 B2B theme.

Limits. Quote templates and multi-company buyers are not listed. Order approval goes to company administrators; value-based rules are not listed. Company hierarchy is not yet available on Hyvä. Your team tracks Adobe core patches and Amasty updates.

Choose it if you run Magento Open Source on Hyvä and need most B2B flows without an Adobe license.

4. Magento Open Source with Aheadworks B2B Extension Suite (Index 64.1)

What it is. A bundle of five Aheadworks modules: Company Accounts, Company Credit, Cart to Quote, Requisition List and Quick Order by SKU. It costs $509 per year, or you can buy a one-time 5-year license.

New in 2026. Seven suite releases between 13 February and 25 August 2026. Version 1.0.40 (25 August 2026) lists Open Source and Adobe Commerce 2.4.7 to 2.4.9.

Strengths. The lowest entry price in the index. True requisition lists. Credit limits per customer, group or company. GraphQL support for all five modules since February 2025. Hyvä compatible.

Limits. Private Catalogs ($297 per year), Sales Representative ($161 per year) and Payment and Shipping Restrictions ($169 per year) are not in the suite. With them, year one costs $1,136. Company hierarchy, multi-company buyers, quote templates, approval rules and hide price are not listed.

Choose it if you run a B2C store and want to add core B2B features on a subscription.

5. Magento Open Source with BSS Commerce B2B Extensions Package (Index 63.3)

What it is. 20 BSS Commerce modules in three plans: Basic (8 modules, $599), Pro (9 more, $939) and Premium (3 more, $1,249). One-time payment, lifetime upgrades, one year of free support and no installation fee.

Strengths. Company account, catalog permission, price per customer, request for quote, quick order, company credit, sales rep, hide price, force login, and shipping and payment by customer group. REST and GraphQL support. BSS Commerce states that the package works with Hyvä.

Limits. Company hierarchy, multi-company buyers, line-item negotiation, quote templates and approval rules are not listed. Multiple wishlists and a reorder list replace requisition lists. The package page lists “Open Source: 2.4.x” without a 2.4.9 statement.

Choose it if you have a fixed budget, prefer a one-time license and sell with standard wholesale flows.

Patch ownership in 2026: the hidden cost of Magento B2B

On 6 January 2026, Adobe changed the Adobe Commerce release schedule. Adobe now ships isolated security patches every month and keeps May for the annual feature release. Adobe released Adobe Commerce 2.4.9 on 12 May 2026, with support until 31 May 2029. Regular support for 2.4.6 ended on 11 August 2026. Adobe gives 2.4.6 and 2.4.7 one extra year of extended support.

The B2B extension follows the same rhythm. For each monthly isolated patch, Adobe ships a matching B2B patch, for example 152p5-2026-07-001-B2B for B2B 1.5.2-p5. Third-party suites add their own stream. Amasty shipped security changes to its Request a Quote module three times between June and September 2026.

The September 2026 zero-day: what B2B merchants must do

On 7 September 2026, Adobe released a critical update for CVE-2026-75650 (APSB26-146). Adobe states that attackers exploited it against Adobe Commerce merchants. The flaw lets an unauthenticated attacker run code on the server. Adobe lists Adobe Commerce 2.4.4 to 2.4.9, Magento Open Source 2.4.6 to 2.4.9 and B2B 1.3.3 to 1.5.3 among the affected versions. Adobe tells affected merchants to do these steps:

  1. Apply the hotfix for your version.
  2. Put the store in maintenance mode and stop cron.
  3. Rotate the encryption key.
  4. Change all Admin passwords.
  5. Regenerate all REST, SOAP and GraphQL integration tokens and OAuth client secrets.
  6. Rotate payment gateway API credentials at the provider.
  7. Rotate database, Fastly, SSH and deploy credentials, and the API keys of third-party extensions.
  8. Flush the cache, start cron and turn off maintenance mode.

On a store with a third-party B2B suite, step 7 includes the API keys that the suite uses. Elogic Commerce Magento support teams can apply the hotfix and rotate the credentials for you. For all 2026 security bulletins, see the Adobe Commerce release schedule tracker.

License and extension fees are rarely the largest cost. ERP, PIM and pricing integration drive most of the budget. Read Adobe Commerce pricing explained for license tiers and build costs. If you need to extend your in-house team, hire Magento developers. Elogic Commerce integrates Adobe Commerce with SAP S/4HANA and SAP Business One, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle NetSuite, Visma, Odoo, Infor, Epicor and Acumatica. Benum runs Adobe Commerce with Visma. After the Elogic Commerce project, checkout conversion increased by 31% and page load time decreased by 65%.

Table 8. Route fit, Elogic Commerce recommendation.

Elogic Commerce recommends a simple test. Count how many of these four capabilities your buyers need: quote templates, one buyer in many companies, value-based purchase order approval rules, and line-item quote negotiation with discount locking. If the answer is two or more, compare the cost of custom code on Open Source with the cost of an Adobe Commerce license before you commit.

Elogic Commerce compared five routes and 14 B2B capabilities. The capabilities cover the procurement steps that B2B buyers use: account structure, catalogs and prices, quotes, approvals, credit, reorder tools, sales support and checkout rules.

Scoring rubric

CriterionWeightHow Elogic Commerce scores it
Capability coverage40%Native or Listed = 1 point; Add-on = 0.75; Partial = 0.5; Not listed = 0. Coverage = points / 14.
Patch ownership25%5 = the vendor applies core and B2B patches. 3 = one vendor ships core and B2B patches and your team applies them. 2 = two vendors (Adobe core and a suite vendor). 1 = three or more code sources, or a package that does not list the current Adobe release line.
Software cost20%Year-one list price of the package plus the add-ons in Table 2: 5 = $1,500 or less; 4 = $1,501 to $3,000; 3 = $3,001 to $10,000; 2 = $10,001 to $20,000; 1 = more than $20,000 or a quote-based enterprise license.
Frontend and API path15%One point each: Luma theme support; Hyvä support documented; B2B GraphQL or API coverage documented; Adobe Commerce Storefront (Edge Delivery) B2B drop-ins; Current release path (Adobe Commerce 2.4.9 listed, or vendor-managed upgrades).

Table 9. Scoring rubric of the Adobe Commerce B2B Index 2026, Elogic Commerce.

Formula. Index = coverage x 40 + (patch score / 5) x 25 + (cost score / 5) x 20 + (frontend score / 5) x 15.

Sources and dates

The Elogic Commerce Adobe Commerce team checked Adobe Experience League release notes, security bulletins, lifecycle pages and vendor product pages between 22 and 25 September 2026. Table 3 gives the evidence for each cell. Each vendor received its rows for a fact-check before publication.

Limits

  1. The index uses public pages. A vendor can have a feature that its public pages do not list.
  2. Elogic Commerce did not install and test each suite for this edition.
  3. Custom code can add any missing capability. The index measures defaults, not limits.
  4. List prices exclude implementation, hosting, support and taxes. Vendors change prices often.

Frequently asked questions

What is Adobe Commerce B2B?

Adobe Commerce B2B is the set of business-to-business features that Adobe includes with Adobe Commerce. It adds company accounts, shared catalogs, negotiable quotes, quote templates, purchase order approvals, requisition lists, quick order and company credit. The current version is B2B 1.5.3. Adobe released it on 12 May 2026 for Adobe Commerce 2.4.9 and 2.4.8.

Is the Magento B2B module free?

No. The native B2B extension comes with an Adobe Commerce license, and Adobe does not publish the license price. Magento Open Source does not include B2B features. In the Elogic Commerce Adobe Commerce B2B Index 2026, third-party B2B suites for Open Source cost from $509 per year (Aheadworks) to $2,789 (Amasty Premium) in year one.

Can I install Adobe Commerce B2B on Magento Open Source?

No. Adobe distributes the B2B extension for Adobe Commerce only. On Magento Open Source, you use a third-party B2B suite or custom code. None of the three Open Source suites that Elogic Commerce scored lists quote templates or one buyer in many companies.

What is the latest Adobe Commerce B2B version?

B2B 1.5.3 is the latest version. Adobe released it on 12 May 2026 for Adobe Commerce 2.4.9 and 2.4.8. For 2.4.7 and 2.4.6, Adobe ships B2B 1.5.2 patch releases such as 1.5.2-p5. Since January 2026, Adobe also ships monthly isolated security patches for the B2B extension. The Elogic Commerce release schedule tracker lists every version.

Does Adobe Commerce as a Cloud Service support B2B?

Yes. Since 20 January 2026, Adobe Commerce as a Cloud Service has B2B drop-ins for company management, company switching, purchase orders, quote management and requisition lists. Adobe added seller-assisted buying in June 2026. In September 2026, Elogic Commerce did not find a quick-order drop-in in the published list.

How do I enable B2B features in Adobe Commerce?

Install the magento/extension-b2b package with Composer. Then go to Stores > Settings > Configuration > General > B2B Features and set each feature to Yes. For each feature and its settings, read the Magento 2 B2B feature list.

Which Magento B2B extension is best for Open Source?

In the Elogic Commerce Adobe Commerce B2B Index 2026, Amasty B2B E-commerce Premium Solution scores 69.4, Aheadworks B2B Extension Suite scores 64.1 and BSS Commerce B2B Extensions Package scores 63.3. Amasty lists the most capabilities (78.6% coverage). Aheadworks has the lowest year-one price. BSS Commerce sells a one-time license.

Why does Adobe Commerce as a Cloud Service score higher than PaaS?

Because of patch ownership. PaaS covers all 14 capabilities and scores 74.0. The Cloud Service covers 12 capabilities fully and 2 in part, but Adobe applies the patches, so it scores 75.1. Elogic Commerce recommends PaaS if you need full code control or quick order on the storefront today.

Is Magento still a good B2B platform in 2026?

Yes, for complex B2B. Adobe released Adobe Commerce 2.4.9 on 12 May 2026 with support until 31 May 2029, and added B2B drop-ins to Adobe Commerce as a Cloud Service in January 2026. The Elogic Commerce index finds that native Adobe Commerce B2B still covers the most procurement capabilities. To compare Magento with other platforms, read the Enterprise Ecommerce Platform Index 2027.

Does Hyvä work with Adobe Commerce B2B?

Yes. Hyvä Enterprise adds Hyvä support for company accounts, shared catalogs, requisition lists, quote templates and purchase orders. It needs the Adobe B2B extension 1.4.0 or later and a separate Hyvä Enterprise license. Amasty, Aheadworks and BSS Commerce state that their B2B suites work with Hyvä. Elogic Commerce is a Hyvä Bronze Partner.
